Re: Corey Hart

My college roomie DESPISED Corey Hart, so naturally I thought of him a few years ago when Capitol released the CD titled “Classic Masters: Corey Hart.” Now there’s four words that don’t usually go together. Ah yes, there’s Sinatra. There’s Elvis. Johnny Cash. And of course, Corey Hart.

I joked with my older sister during my vacation a few weeks ago when she said she was enjoying “Best Of” CDs from Slade and Dead or Alive. I reacted: Are those CDs three tracks apiece? It’s funny when one-hit (or okay, one-and-a-half-hit) groups have these: The Kajagoogoo Collection, Katrina and the Waves: Greatest Hits, Best of Big Country. This is different from almost-forgotten ’80s acts who actually had enough top-40 hits to fill out a CD (Howard Jones). Or the ones my college radio buddies are still hating (Phil Collins). Or the ones that now don’t sell very well after a morals charge or two (Michael Jackson, Wham!)
