Hey, I’ve been to Star Trek conventions, and the two types of people – normal fans vs. dysfunctional fanatics – were present even there. OK, I did attend a reading of Hamlet’s soliloquies in Klingon, but I’m not a fanatic! Seriously, though, it’s an interesting question (to which I have no answer) how much sexual inadequacy contributes to political extremism – is it just mockery of the enemy (like the WWII songs about Hitler’s anatomy) or is there more to it?
