I read that same WaPo editorial, Veronique, and agreed with 3 1/2 of the five recommendations. Raising the Social Security age, reducing Social Security benefits for the well-off, and cutting farm subsidies all seem like worthwhile ideas, and I’d be amenable to getting rid of the tax exclusion for employer-provided health insurance if it were paired with a well-designed tax cut of equal size. It didn’t seem like a bad batting average, especially for the Post.
