Brian Kalt writes in about some other implications of a two-term Clinton win:
1. It will be seven consecutives terms with a Yalie in the White House.
2. The GOP will have gone a whopping 88 years since winning without either a Bush or Nixon on the ticket, if you count VPs.
3. The 40 years you posit for the Dems (1976-2016) would not come close to the 52 years of only winning with a Cleveland (From the last win–Buchanan in 1856–through 1908, before Wilson won in 1912).
And more ominously:
1. The only other two sitting senators to be elected–Harding and Kennedy–both died in office.
2. The presidential New Yorkers all either served only a partial, inherited term (Arthur, Fillmore); were defeated when running a second time (TR 1912, Cleveland 1888, Van Buren 1840), or died in office (FDR).
