An e-mail, representative of the mood I’m hearing:
Re Fossella – it seems to me that, considering all of the various GOP “issues” that have been washing ashore for the past few years (Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Duke Cunningham, immigration, out of control spending, etc.), whether Fossella resigns or sticks around until November is immaterial. The damage has been done and isn’t going away for awhile; certainly not in time for November 2008. A depressing spectacle, but I’m glad you guys are around to keep up the fight.
(And yes, I’m voting for McCain; Obama is such a leftie tyro there’s no way to pull the lever for him. But, no matter who wins in November, I don’t think I’ll be terribly thrilled).
