John – I see you’re studying up on Gargoyles. Yes, there’s a Darth Vader grotesque (rule of thumb: if it doesn’t have water coming out of it, it’s not a gargoyle but a grotesque) at the National Cathedral. I’ve seen it up close. There’s also a politician with bags of money. A guy with a gas-mask and DDT canister and all sorts of other weird things up there.
You’d know all of this, course, if you’d seen my landmark, international hit documentary, Gargoyles: Guardians of the Gate. I believe this is it at Amazon (it’s apparently been sold to Time Life). I do not pretend that it is very good — I’m not that good a liar. But, given the budget I had to work with and my own inexperience, it ain’t bad. And I’d wager that for teaching a kid everything he could possibly want to know about Gargoyles (with vague shades of D&D geekdom thrown in) it’s you’re best bet, if I do say so myself.
Note: I’m not plugging this for my own benefit as I don’t get a dime from the sales.
Update: You can rent it from Netflix, here. Again, I don’t actually recommend you do this unless you’re really, really, really interested in gargoyles. And even then only if you’ve got some time on your hands.
