Re: Going Green

From a reader:

You like those [twisty light bulbs]?  I put one in my stairway down to the family room and it looked like a stairway at a parking garage.  This was a name-brand “sunlight” bulb, too!

The bulb came out immediately and a good ol’ incandescent went back in.  If a ban in incandescents ever becomes reality, I’ll be calculating how many I need to last the rest of my life and buying them.

If the “twisty” technology ever gets to the point where they don’t look like a mercury vapor street light I might change my mind, for for now:  yuck!

As someone who normally sits in the dark at home in front of the computer screen, it hasn’t bothered me so much. I’ve even gotten used to the way they turn on more than a full second after I flip the switch. I wouldn’t impose my personal choice on anyone else, though.
