Re: Health Care is a Commodity?

Hey Jonah — in hammering out a quick response to that Post editorial, I think I was too lax about working within its definitions. You’re right, health care is not a commodity. But within the broader category of “good or service,” the fact remains that Congress has never passed a law like this, and that the justifications the Post and others are offering for making health coverage mandatory could easily apply to other goods and services — except that if we swapped out health coverage for Vitamin Water or season one of Deadwood or eight weeks of Pilates, we would naturally and rightly recoil at the absurdity and the loss of liberty involved. Even though I like Deadwood.
