I was with her right until the end of her post. I think she is quite right to say that conservatives need an alternative health-care plan. I don’t think that we need to, or should, embrace universal coverage as a goal. (Obama didn’t while campaigning in a Democratic primary, and he did ok.) We can address people’s concerns about portability, affordability, and control without universal coverage, and achieving universal coverage may require some trade-offs that aren’t worth making. I haven’t yet seen a “market-driven universal coverage” plan that really deserves the label.
