So Americans for Tax Reform is against getting rid of the home-mortgage reduction straight-up? As tax analyst Joe Kristan points out, this means that ATR is for a program that mails billions of dollars of federal checks to homeowners every year simply because they are homeowners. Doesn’t sound like a very conservative policy to me . . . nor to Harvard economist Ed Glaeser, who wrote just the other day against this in the spirit of “libertarian egalitarianism.”
