These are not the largest mass executions in 30 years. The Iranian regime’s record remains the mass executions of 1988 when more than 3,000 people were executed in a weekend. At this moment the regime is still shaken by its recent experience and unlikely to try to break that record. However, any weakening of the freedom movement could change all that. Some within the radical faction are publicly calling for a bloodbath.
