There actually are parallels there. As Mark Steyn pointed out the other day, even when he was supposedly running in New Hampshire, Rudy wasn’t running very hard in New Hampshire. He never embraced the ethic of intensive retail campaigning in Iowa and New Hampshire. If Rudy loses badly in Florida, what will have united Rudy and Fred is a resistance to bending to the “rules” of presidential politics–including doing the bone-crushing labor necessary in the early states–that ended up costing their campaigns dearly.
