Kathryn, you’d be surprised how many people think that argument is entirely sane:
Rush Limbaugh uses the radio in America; the genocidal Hutu used the radio in Rwanda. This is how it starts, folks! There’ll be one million dead on the streets of Chicago.
I’ve been hearing the same line for five months in these nutso “human rights” complaints up in Canada: Steyn writes a book to promote his “ideas”; Adolf Hitler wrote a book to promote his “ideas”. And we know how that turned out. (I address that idea here.)
It’s interesting that the same people who object to the doctrine of pre-emption with regard to, say, the Iranian nuclear program are quite happy to apply it to radio hosts and columnists. Strange priorities.
