Rich, you’re right — Romney’s response did not quite work. He’s such a sharp guy and I keep waiting for him to have some breakout moment in these debates where he displays some sort of exceptional wit or flash of something rhetorically great. Following up Ron Paul’s doddering answer there was a big fat softball down the middle of the plate, and Romney grounded out yet again.
