Re: Krazy Keith Ratings

John, I think Olbermann needs to be taken seriously. He is the nation’s televised face of sneering, drooling Bush hatred. Olbermann’s October has been a festival of long and feverish commentaries, repeatedly sending the message that we’re presently living under a terrorist and a dictator. He’s claimed “the leading terrorist group in this country right now is the Republican Party.” That the Bush team “have institutionalized the terrorizing of the opposition. True domestic terror.” Even talking about 9/11 is described as “gruesome, intentional, terroristic invocations yesterday of the horrors of 9/11.” Olbermann is so feverish even Laura Bush is evil, as “the First Lady silently sticks the knife in Michael J. Fox’s back.”

This makes CNN’s Crossfire look like The Wiggles. But I can’t imagine Jon Stewart will put on his injured-citizen face and plead with Keith to stop the madness.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, attempting to appease forces in the Democratic party eager for impeachment, is accusing him of one, with all the familiar Watergate connotations. The charge is strange, ... Read More

TV Before PC

Affixing one’s glance to the rear-view mirror is usually as ill-advised as staring at one’s own reflection. Still, what a delight it was on Wednesday to see a fresh rendition of “Those Were the Days,” from All in the Family, a show I haven’t watched for nearly 40 years. This time it was Woody Harrelson ...
