As a former 14 year old boy, I must say that I’m with Derb on the broad brushstrokes. I think female teachers who seduce teenage students are doing a very bad thing and violate an important trust and should get in trouble for it. But I don’t think it’s exactly parallel to the reverse — male teachers seducing girls. But, I also think this is one of these areas where we lose nothing, or at least very little, by having a standard policy whereby women are punished just as severely as men for doing this sort of thing. I think we lose a great deal when we start treating men the way some folks think we should treat women under these circumstances.
