The info in my earlier post about possibly renaming ICE was only partly correct. A DHS employee forwarded the memo to staff dated Wednesday announcing the change, and the agency overall isn’t being renamed, but instead reorganized internally (yet again) into three directorates, one of which will be called “Homeland Security Investigations” (which a reader noted sounds like a new TV crime drama). So it’s not as absurd as it initially seemed, though how much rearranging of the deck chairs can you do without distracting from an agency’s actual mission? Eventually maybe someone will realize that the policy is the problem, not the way the boxes are arranged on an organizational chart.
