Byron (and the rest of the house), isn’t this a dumb move? Not so much that McCain could look like he’s stepping on Obama’s night, which is of course not a good idea because it would look (and be) ungracious. Worse, it seems to be, is that when word eventually leaks, it will give Obama — in a highly watched, much anticipated speech — a chance to put the first highly publicized spin on the choice. If I were McCain, I would want to go first, pitching how I want the public to understand the choice. Why let Obama frame it before McCain speaks about it?
