Jonah, you’re right about the left-wing assumptions of “On The Media” but it was striking how the host, Bob Garfield, was wary about applying those assumptions to his own business. In other words, people who think it’s natural for the government to regulate every aspect of American life are nevertheless wary about the government regulating every aspect of the media. Nevertheless, I nearly drove off the road and plunged to the creek below to perish in a grisly fireball I was laughing so much at the way Mr Garfield began one question:
For a moment let’s agree that the piece was not only inflammatory but fundamentally fascistic.
“Fundamentally fascistic”? Crikey! Even the plaintiffs aren’t alleging that. Maybe the Canadian Islamic Congress should retain Bob Garfield as an expert witness.
