A source close to DeMint tells National Review Online that the senator is unconcerned about a move by Senate Republicans to knock him from his Steering Committee post. “People who know DeMint know he’s not fazed by the sniping,” the source says. “These are the sounds of desperation from status quo Republicans who are facing a big shakeup in November. Some are scared of the coming group of new senators that can’t be co-opted, and next year they’d prefer to be working with go-along politicians — like Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Trey Grayson and Lisa Murkowski — who would help them keep their earmarks and big-spending ways.”
