Obama’s claim that the decision to cancel public tours “was not a decision that went up to the White House” directly contradicts what his press secretary Jay Carney told reporters in a briefing last Thursday.
“In order to allow the Secret Service to best fulfill its core mission, the White House made the decision that we would, unfortunately, have to temporarily suspend these tours,” Carney said.
It wouldn’t be the first time Obama tried to absolve himself of responsibility by making false claims.
UPDATE: Carney awkwardly tries to explain the discrepancy.
