My reaction to the Packer piece was much like Jonah’s: yes, there’s work to be done, and there’s a certain intellectual fatigue among conservatives; but the fortunes of conservatism are not identical to those of the GOP, and both are helped by the fact that the left isn’t exactly offering stiff competition intellectually.
