Pelosi is quoted in that CNS piece:
“[A]s the Bible teaches us, to minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship, to ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us. Let us vote no on this budget as an act of worship and for America’s children.”
Huh — God is telling her how to vote? Isn’t she arguing for establishment of a state religion? What ever happened to the Separation of Church and State?
And in that vein, can the religion thing work for the Speaker if her core supporters (non-bitter San Franciscans) aren’t absolutely convinced that she’s faking it?
From a defender of St. Nancy:
Subject: Saint Pelosi…at least compared to you…
Pelosi’s call to consider God’s Word when governing is establishing a state religion? This from the crowd supposedly cherishes the “culture of life” that Jesus taught (well, except the death penalty – which is the only issue He directly mentioned….and the only one conservatives ignore) and tries to prevent Pelosi and Kerry from taking communion (I’m sure all conservatives who support the death penalty abstain from taking communion, yes?)
Maybe NRO should ask Pelosi to give a theological lecture; you certainly need it. A good opening prayer for such a lecture would be, “Lord, give me patience to endure cafeteria Catholics (i.e. conservatives) who so pervert Your will in their worship of Mammon. Amen.”
