Re: Plaid Attitude Cont’d

From a reader:

Hi Mr. Goldberg, What’s the deal with Scotland? For starters every MP is Labour. I was supposed to do a 2 year gig there in ‘90/91. Got canned after a year because my boss thought all I was doing was playing golf. He couldn’t understand why I wasn’t doing any business with all the same customers we had in the States with those in the Silicon Glen. If you are a tourist, things couldn’t be better, but try fitting in if you come over on business, you are now a Yank Capitalist, and that was then. I had no problem in England,France, Germany, Italy and Holland but didn’t get one deal done in Scotland. They seem to entice business development, but making a profit is very taboo. Coming home for Christmas that year, I wanted to bring some local gifts. Cashmere was very expensive then. A local factory had a year end 1/2 off sale so I bought about 25 items for friends and co-workers, and they were ANGRY about it. I think I was being too much of a pig.You also might not want to advertise that you are Catholic.
