Re: Political Cancer

I totally second Kathryn’s last.  And while we are toasting cancer survivors, let’s add Steve Sailer, clear for (I think) ten years now.

As I recall, when Steve’s tests came back the doctor called him in and said: “You have stage four lymphatic cancer.”  Steve: “How many stages are there?”  Doctor: “Just the four.”

Steve got on the Internet–still a new thing at that time–tracked down a team of researchers working on his particular affliction, jumped on a plane, banged on their door till they let him in.  They told him their treatment was still in the experimental stage.  Steve said he didn’t care.  They said he’d have to sign a three-foot-high stack of legal waivers.  Steve brandished his pen.

(This is all from memory.  If I’ve got the details wrong, Steve, please correct me & I’ll post.)
