Re: “Proud to Be Out of Touch”

I didn’t watch much of the Oscars, as they start way early here and I was busy taking care of my kids. What I saw of Jon Stewart I liked, and the real star of any Oscar broadcast, the montage sequences, seemed to be in fine form. I caught Clooney’s award and speech and felt his attitude perfectly captured how much of Hollywood really feels. “I’m proud to be out of touch” translates to, “You may not like it, but we’re better than you. We’re smarter and more sensitive, and it’s up to you to catch up to us, not the other way round.”
