I’d say that’s a pretty fair description of the GOP, also.  Reagan won big because people knew where he stood.  Even if they didn’t like everything he stood for, they respected him for it.  He certainly didn’t spend a lot of time criticizing other Republicans, but he didn’t act like a Democrat to get votes, either.  A general rule for both churches and politicians:  Keep the message positive, but stand firm on principles.
