re: Remember that UNICEF Study?

Jonah, thanks for flagging the report showing the flaws in the Lancet study. Still, as reports masquerading as propaganda go, nothing beats the off-cited 1999 UNICEF study which found that sanctions had killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children. After Saddam’s fall, of course, it became clear that this had not occurred and the claim was propaganda. This shouldn’t have surprised, though, if one looked at the acknowledgments: Saddam Hussein’s government provided UNICEF with the data, and our good friends at UNICEF were happy to play the useful idiot.
