I didn’t know him well, but whenever I saw him — in particular at one fascinating Washington brunch — he was so full of life. So fully engaged. So passionate about the world as he was seeing it ever so clearer after the September 11 attacks. I know we didn’t agree on every issue — as readers would point out to me when I linked to something he did or said — but I always had the sense from him that he was open to a well-reasoned argument and, ultimately, truth. There was a passion for truth and justice there that I know I was impressed by and I know I didn’t know a quarter of it. My condolences to his family.
