I would just add to Rich’s post below that back in early February when Ryan unveiled his initial plan to cut $32 billion, Harry Reid decried it as “unworkable” and “even more draconian than we expected.” Chuck Schumer, who continues to showcase a severely limited vocabulary, called it “extreme.” At the time, Democrats even wheeled out their favorite “Republican” economist Mark Zandi to argue that “now is not the time” for meaningful spending cuts. Yet here we are.
