Seriously though, I don’t know about the West Village but the kids in Chelsea when I was growing up did not have conversations like this with their parents at three:
[Sarah Jessica Parker] explains, ” He said, ‘Mama I’ve been hearing a lot about a movie lately.’ I said, ‘What movie?’ and he said ‘Brokeback Mountain. I’ve heard it’s about two cowboys. I would like to watch it tonight.’
And if I said “I want to watch that….” the answer was 79 percent of the time, “no”…unless Puff the Magic Dragon was on. (Which probably explains how I wound up at NR.)
