re: Steeling Maryland

A source on the Steele campaign was telling me the other day how black parents will come up to the Lt. Gov. pretty regularly saying they want their children to meet him. He’s an impressive candidate who’s may be inspiring people in the process of running for office, which doesn’t happen every day.

As we saw on the Voting Rights Act, we may not agree with him on everything if he winds up in the Senate — “independent streak” comes up in conversations about him. But indications are he’s a principled and a conservative guy with conservative instincts.

And yes, the campaign thinks those parents could be a very positive indicator for Election Day.
