Re: Steyn Case Background

Stanley, you point out that Canada’s Human Rights Commission has taken on a “number of human rights commission cases against people with religiously-based objections to homosexuality.” That’s odd, because I did a quick Google search of Khurrum Awan, a member of the Canadian Islamic Congress and the first name to appear on the complaint against Steyn, and here he is appearing before Parliament in support of imposing limits on civil unions, a conviction he arrives at presumably because of his religion. Obviously I think that Canada’s Human Rights Comission is a pernicious farce and it should be disbanded immediately, but that said, I think that Mr. Awan would be careful to legitimize a star chamber that he could easily be victim to because of his own beliefs.
