I always found the article of faith that conservatives are worse at name-calling than liberals bizarre. Sure, many conservatives practice name-calling (cough, cough). But much of the time, we’re pretty obviously putting some humor into it. The liberal tendency to call conservatives “racist,” “sexist,” “fascist” etc is that it comes with such intense earnestness. Besides, it’s just absurd, in the context of Jon Stewart, to single out Bob Novak and Tucker Carlson as name-callers when they’re paired against those high-road travellers Carville and Begala.
