Michael, I am far from his greatest fan, but Senator McCain did serve our country honorably — and then some.
And I have respect for a lot of people, including him, who put their names out there in political service — even when I disagree with them.
And that he has a son who, as you note, has served in battle, is no small thing. Most Americans do not serve in the military and do not raise children who do. At the moment, less than one percent of the U.S. population wears a uniform.
I am grateful to God for those who do sacrifice for others.
