I wouldn’t be surprised if privately Perkins doesn’t give Romney a lot more credit than he seemed to in that piece, even after reading that letter. As I said Saturday, assuming Romney makes a convincing case for himself on these issues (among others), having this stuff covered prominently and early can turn out to be a great gift to him.
