re: Veepstakes

By the way, I thought David Brooks was most wrong today where he said: “a sensible presidential candidate shouldn’t be selecting a mate on the basis of who can help him get elected. He should be thinking about who can help him govern successfully so he can get re-elected.”

Folks should be urging McCain to take that one-term pledge. It makes sense age-wise. It makes sense if you believe “government is broken” and want to see someone go in with four or so big, doable goals. It makes sense if you’re a movement conservative who wants to rebuild while he’s in the White House. It just makes sense.
