I’m not sure I agree, JPOD.

Believe me: I would not weep bitter tears were Moussaoui to be sentenced todeath.

But I don’t think it’s terrible that he’s to rot in amaximum security prison for the rest of his days.

I also think that he may be crazy – in a way that Osama bin Ladenand Abu Musab al-Zarqawi are not. If jurors were persuaded of that, and if theyunderstood the law to mean that in America we don’t execute thecertifiably insane, I can at least understand that perspective.

Finally, there is something to be said for denying Moussaoui themartyrdom that he appears to genuinely desire.
