Re: Wilson

Rick: I wish I remembered that. My reading of The Way of the WASP was distracted by the distractions of youth. But, I should be clear, lest I misspoke. I was not trying to claim that I invented the anti-Wilson current on the right. I got much of my stuff from Kesler and his crowd too! And, I was also deeply influenced by Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn, whom I’ve been told once painted a portrait of Hitler, Lenin, and Wilson as the triumvirate of 20th-century villainy.

It’s interesting, however, that if you go back and look at the archives of NR, there’s really not much Wilson-criticism outside the context of the Versailles disaster. I think that silence is interesting, and I have my own theories about it (none of which are reflected very much in that NYT debate), but that will have to be a discussion for later.
