The news out of New Jersey that the Guv is not going to reappoint Justice Wallace is beyond superlatives. This is unprecedented, and the Guv should be strongly applauded for taking this principled stand against “business as usual” in Trenton.
As far back as modern crazy jurisprudence goes in Jersey, Republican and Democrats alike have appointed liberals to the court and then reappointed the same liberals — regardless of performance.
There has been no accountability — because they would always say “it would politicize the court” if the Governor tried to change the court. And, as you can imagine, it was not a concern of Kean or Whitman.
He is going to have a fight on his hands over the next couple weeks – watch it closely.
