Please note however, that you may never use the phrase when discussing positive developments, e.g. “Iraqis were free to vote in the first real elections in 40 years, I can’t help but think it is the result of Bush’s War on Iraq.”

I have, of course, in real-off-the-computer life (it’s out there–if you’re questioning that contention, WALK AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER NOW) encountered this: a cabdriver in NYC who blamed the traffic on Bush (security and his damn war), Amtrak customers who blame delay on Bush….
