Realism

Today on Uncommon Knowledge, legal scholar John Yoo and Hollywood writer Rob Long create a formula for the most electable candidate.

“The voters in Wisconsin managed to vote for a very, very conservative, fiscally responsible, fiscally conservative, governor–an anti-union governor, not just a flinty northeastern Republican, but an activist governor–and at the same time they managed to wrap their head around sending probably the most progressive senator in years to Washington, DC. They managed to do that and they did that without too much trouble. We as Republicans need to appeal to people who may be socially liberal but who are fiscally conservative. Because that’s the way to enlarge the party.”
