Last year, President Bush nominated Susan Dudley to be the new head of hte Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget in the White House. Because of some of her work criticizing inefficient federal regulations, Susan was subject to a smear campaign , and her nomination stalled in the Senate. President Bush renominated her for the OIRA spot and, according to today’s Wall Street Journal, will make he a recess appointment. If so, she will hold the position through December 2008. Interestingly enough, the Washington Post reports today that the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee is preparing another hearing on her nomination.
