Reconsidering the Primary

Andy, I suspect your post wasn’t primarily directed at me, but since I did argue that McCain was the strongest candidate in the Republican field and that his appeal to independent voters was one of the reasons for thinking so, I should just note that I still believe it’s true. I very much doubt any of his primary opponents would be doing better if he had won the nomination. But we’ll have plenty of time to argue about it after the election. Ideally, on the NR cruise, you’ll be explaining to me that Giuliani would have had an even bigger winning margin than McCain ended up having!
