I have just now received an e-mail from the communications director for Rep. Jeff Fortenberry:
Your assertion that Congressman Fortenberry is a “pledge breaker” is incorrect. Congressman Fortenberry has not taken the Americans for Tax Reform pledge for the 110th Congress.
He adds:
What A.T.R. is referring to is that Congressman Fortenberry did sign the pledge before the 109th. He chose not to sign it before the 110th Congress. A.T.R. appears to believe that their pledges exist in perpetuity. Congressman Fortenberry does not share this view. Congress, and he lived up to it completely.
