I posted those comments by Mayor Livingstone yesterday, thinking them good and strong. But I knew absolutely nothing of his politics or past statements. (Since coming to the Corner, I’ve really expanded my personal library of things I know nothing about — that is, it’s hard to know what you don’t know.) Several e-mailers wrote to point out part of Red Ken’s statement they found troubling: “This was not a terrorist attack against the mighty and the powerful. It was not aimed at Presidents or Prime Ministers. It was aimed at ordinary, working-class Londoners…” Is the Mayor suggesting that an attack aimed at Presidents or Prime Ministers would have been acceptable? Or at least, preferable?
