Reid Objects When McConnell Pushes Bill That Would Fund Vets

Senate majority leader Harry Reid objected today when Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell pushed today for the Senate to consider House-passed legislation that would ensure veterans were funded during the shutdown.

“Today, the House passed a bill to ensure that our veterans continue to get the services and benefits they so richly deserve,” McConnell said on the floor. “If Democrats are unwilling to fund other parts of the government, at the very least they can agree to support our veterans.”

Reid then objected.
