BREAKING: Priebus Out; John Kelly Named Chief of Staff

Exactly 24 hours after the publication of a New Yorker magazine bombshell in which new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci called Reince Priebus “a f***ing paranoid schizophrenic” and accused him of leaking West Wing secrets to the press, President Trump announced on Twitter that Priebus will be replaced by John F. Kelly as the White House chief of staff.

The news dump follows a hectic week at the White House and an explosive 48 hours at the West Wing. Scaramucci, whose appointment was reportedly protested by Priebus, heavily insinuated in an impromptu CNN interview yesterday morning that the since-ousted chief of staff was responsible for the leaks which have haunted the Trump administration over the last seven months. When pressed earlier this week, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway has “privately” told people that Priebus would be “gone,” according to Adrian Carrasquillo at BuzzFeed.

The defeat of Priebus marks the first major fall in what has been seen as a power struggle between Priebus, White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, and senior advisor and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
