Rejecting Federal Authority

Mark S – Good point about rejecting federal authority. Just wondering: So are all the pot legalization folks in California now rightwing militants? I mean the whole point is to reject the authority of the federal government, right? Okay, so maybe because so many spend so much time on second hand couches in their basement eating “Crunch ‘n Munch” and watching Mystery Science Theater reruns they’re not considered much of a threat. But what about the folks in Vermont who just voted to legalize gay marriage and despise the Defense of Marriage Act? Do they count as right wing nutjobs? How about the euthanasia enthusiasts in Oregon? I mean those folks have actually killed people. And what about all those vicious librarians who “defied” the Patriot Act? I hope someone is monitoring them.

Update: Some very annoying and humorless readers took exception to this sentence “But what about the folks in Vermont who just voted to legalize gay marriage and despise the Defense of Marriage Act?” I didn’t write that the vote in Vermont violated DOMA, merely that the same folks despise it. Does anyone doubt that?
