Remember When the Departure of Jim Mattis Was Going to Destroy the Trump Administration?

Yeah, that was a crazy 36 hours. I was talking to a friend about this yesterday. It’s always hard to remember, given how intense the news cycles are and how many people are desperate to see Trump melt down, but almost no event is ever as big as it seems at the time. There are exceptions—the firing of James Comey, the reaction to Charlottesville—but most every all-consuming crisis is a soon-to-be-forgotten bridge to the next thing.
